Around 1 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon, some 30,000 horsepower will rumble to life at the starting line of the Daytona International Speedway, and the 43 racers in the Daytona 500 will kick off the 2011 NASCAR season. And you don't have to be in Florida to feel the economic ripple effect of those 200 hot laps on the oval racecourse.

While NASCAR fandom, along with the enthusiasts for other forms of pro racing like open-wheel Formula One and Indianapolis cars, has been waning in recent years, race fans still are a dogged cohort and racing activities at both the professional and amateur level no doubt have a place in your market.
